Always Asked Questions

What is “ROVAL Cold Galvanizing”?

R22 is a Low VOC single pack type, organic zinc rich paint.
R spray is a high quality zinc rich spray.
These two products contain 96% pure zinc metal in its dry film and provide cathodic protection on steel.
They offer equivalent anti-corrosion performance of hot-dip galvanizing.
For further information, refer to the product page of our website.

Are ROVAL products zinc rich paint?
What’s the difference between single pack and two packs type?

R22 and R spray are both zinc rich paint.
Single pack type paint is ready to use as soon as can is opened, whereas two pack type paint needs to be mixed with hardener before use.

Do ROVAL products contain lead?

ROVAL products do NOT contain lead.

Compound in ROVAL products are all pure zinc powder and some of our products also contain aluminum powder.

What is the difference between zinc and lead?

Zinc and lead are totally different substances.

Lead is toxic to the human body.  On the other hand, zinc is necessary for the human body because it controls our sense of taste.
ATTENTION:
ROVAL products contain organic solvents.
Avoid contact with skin and inhalation.

Are ROVAL products classified as dangerous goods?

Yes.

R22 is classified as a “Flammable Liquid,” and our aerosol products are classified as “Aerosols, Flammable, n.o.s.”

How do you guarantee the performance of ROVAL products?

The performance of the products is highly dependent on the degree of surface preparation, thickness of dry film, and its environmental conditions.

Since these criteria are out of our control, we do NOT guarantee their performance.

Can galvanization really be processed in ordinary temperatures?

Yes.

R22 and R spray have the same anti-corrosion mechanism as hot-dip galvanizing.
In the 1940s, researches conducted by Cambridge University indicated that the coating, which had more than 95% pure zinc metal in the dried film, provided electrochemical protection on steel and had the equivalent anti-corrosion effect of hot-dip galvanizing.

How is ROVAL Cold Galvanizing Compound different from other normal paint?

Normal paint works as a barrier to isolate steel from deteriorating factors such as water and air.
Our product offers electrochemical protection to prevent steel from corrosion, in the same way that hot-dip galvanizing does.
As the benefit of this reaction, even when the ROVAL film is damaged and part of the steel is exposed, rust will not creep under the film.
Zinc has lower electrode potentials than iron.
Therefore, when zinc and iron interact, the ionization of zinc is easier than that of iron.

Why should aerosol products be stored horizontally?

Horizontal storage makes agitator balls inside the aerosol to be stirred easier before using.

What should I do to aerosol after use?

In order to prevent the spray nozzle from clogging, hold the aerosol upside down and spray until colorless mist appears (about 2 seconds).
