It depends on the degree of rust.
We do not recommend applying ROVAL products on a rusted surface because it will compromise their anti-corrosion performance.
However, R22 and R spray has high zinc content, so the rust will not creep under the ROVAL film.
Yes.
Although ROVAL products are suitable for touch-up of galvanized surfaces, they can be used as reinforcement of galvanizing layers.
Remove rust with power tools and white rust with wire brush or coated abrasive before application.
Be careful not to damage structural steels of the tower while surface preparation.
Proper surface preparation and 80μm dry film thickness are must for optimum anti-corrosion performance.
If the old film is not a ROVAL product, remove it thoroughly before application.
If the old film is a 96% ROVAL product, remove all the contaminants on the surface before application.
Do NOT use primer under ROVAL film.
Galvanic action occurs when ROVAL makes direct contact with steel or galvanized surface.
Do not use any primers or other normal paint under ROVAL.
In a standard condition (68°F): 1 ~ 3 hrs.
The time between coats will become longer at lower temperatures.
R22 is pre-adjusted, so dilution is not necessary.
If you thin, we recommend the use of PCBTF thinner to maintain the R22’s low VOC.
ZC’s silver sheen color is a good match with galvanized surface.
MC’s color blends in with newly galvanized surface.
Yes. R22’s or R spray’s anti-corrosion performance and the life of its film are directly proportional to its film thickness.
As to the surface preparation, hand tool cleaning is sufficient.
If marine salt exist on surface, remove them by high-pressure washing before application.
It will take longer for film to cure, but will dry.
If condensation exists on the surface, be sure to remove it; otherwise film peeling will occur.
If temperatures drop below freezing after proper application and adequate drying time, film will have no problem.
R22 and R spray can be applied only when zinc content of the old zinc rich paint is more than 90% (in dry film).
In case the zinc content is not clear, remove old film entirely and apply R22 or R spray on bare metal.
